Safety behaviours are specific actions or strategies that individuals engage in to manage or cope with anxiety or fear in potentially threatening situations. These behaviours are typically employed to reduce the perceived risk or discomfort associated with a particular situation or trigger. While safety behaviours may provide temporary relief, they can actually maintain or exacerbate anxiety in the long run. Safety behaviours are commonly observed in anxiety disorders.
